A Wooden Sanctuary in the Himalayas

Duplex House Jibhi began as a single idea — to build a home in the mountains where travellers could slow down, breathe cold pine air, and wake up to mist rolling across the Jalori ridge. We picked a quiet hamlet called Bharthidhar, just above the village of Jibhi in the Banjar valley of Himachal Pradesh.

Every beam, every floorboard, every brass latch was placed by hand. Local carpenters from the valley seasoned the pinewood, rubbed it with walnut stain, and joined it the way their grandfathers had taught them. The result is a sanctuary that feels both grand and intimate — a real Himalayan home, not a hotel dressed up in wood.

Jibhi sits in the Banjar tehsil of Kullu district, on the southern edge of the Seraj valley. Once a quiet stop on the old trade route to Jalori Pass, it has become a beloved escape for those seeking an alternative to the crowds of Manali — quieter, greener, and still wild enough to feel like the edge of the world.

From Duplex House Jibhi, you are minutes from the Jibhi waterfall, a short drive from Jalori Pass and the Great Himalayan National Park, and within a day's reach of Serolsar Lake, Chehni Kothi and the Tirthan river. Bharthidhar itself is a tiny hamlet of apple orchards, terraced fields and traditional Kathkuni houses.

Every interior at Duplex House Jibhi is finished in warm Himachali pinewood, accented with brass and walnut. The duplex room spreads across two levels — a snug fireplace nook below, a king bed beneath a sloping wood-beam ceiling above — and opens onto a private balcony.

The premium valley-view room is sun-washed and serene, with a queen bed facing a wide glass door that frames the entire Jibhi valley. Both rooms share the same craftsmanship, the same geyser-fed rain showers, and the same herbal soaps sourced from Tirthan.
